Heather and Reg joined thousands of walkers all around the state as they "put on their pink bras" to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

This morning around 9:00 a.m., communities around the state kicked off the American Cancer Society's "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer."

Family and friends organized teams and decorated pink bras to celebrate their journeys. In Hillsborough County, you could see a sea of pink bras as an estimated 10,000 people walked from the St. Pete Times Forum to Bayshore Boulevard.

The pink bra serves as an empowering symbol of how personal the fight against breast cancer can be. Walkers were encouraged to throw bra decorating parties and carry their bras to raise awareness and money for the American Cancer Society.

The money raised goes toward research, awareness and screenings.

Many communities around the country took part including:

  • Hillsborough: 9:00 a.m. St. Pete Times Forum
  • Pinellas: 9:00 a.m. Vinoy Park in St. Pete
  • Pasco: 9:00 a.m. Shops at Wiregrass
  • Sarasota: 9:00 a.m. Sarasota Polo Club
  • Polk: 8:30 a.m. Fantasy of Flight
