2006 "gang raid" leads to $475K lawsuit settlement

Tampa, Florida -- Taxpayers will have to foot the bill for a nearly half-million dollars to settle a civil rights lawsuit that dates back to 2006.

It started with a huge gang bust bust took place back on August 20, 2006 at the Caribbean American Club at 6211 Martindale Ave. in South Tampa. It was supposed to be a major gang round-up.

Instead it turned into an expensive and embarrassing civil rights lawsuit against local law enforcement.

3 arrested for 17 burglaries in Wesley Chapel area

Wesley Chapel, Florida -- The Pasco Sheriff's Office has arrested three individuals in connection with 17 burglaries of businesses in the Seven Oaks area of Wesley Chapel.

Meth lab found in hotel room with 8 kids

Seffner, Florida -- Thanks to a Crime Stoppers tip to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, deputies found a small methamphetamine lab operating in a room with eight kids in a Seffner hotel. 

Deputies say they received the tip Tuesday that someone was making meth at a room in the Masters Inn on Highway 579. 

Thief steals over $3,500 in sunglasses

Brandon, Florida -- Hillsborough Sheriff's detectives are asking for the public's help identifying the man seen in the above surveillance photo who stole over $3,500 worth of sunglasses on two occasions from a Sunglass Hut store at Westfield Shopping Mall in Brandon. 

Detectives say on June 14, the unidentified man, seen in the photograph, entered the store and put multiple pairs of sunglasses valued at $1,760 in a bag. He then walked out of the store without paying.

Teen arrested in pit bull puppies theft, 2 still sought

Thonotosassa, Florida -- One of three juveniles wanted in the theft of two pit bull puppies from a home on May 19 has been arrested.

Man charged in fatal April 28 DUI crash

Tampa, Florida -- A Tampa man was arrested and charged Thursday in a crash that took the life of a 24-year-old woman who was riding in the car with him on the night of April 28.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers say around 11:44 p.m., 29-year-old Jamie Coffey was heading north in the outside lane on Nebraska Avenue in a Dodge Magnum.

Public's help needed in cold case fatal hit and run

Wimauma, Florida -- The Florida Highway Patrol is asking for the public's help with information on a fatal hit and run on U.S. Hwy 301 back in November 2012.

In the early morning hours of Nov. 4, 2012, troopers say the unknown vehicle was heading north on U.S. Hwy 301 while Alexander Klim's Acura Integra was heading south.
