Gator vs. Bobcat

TAMPA, Florida -- Teeth, scales, and nails: it's 10 feet of alligator lurking in a Tampa Palms retention pond, and appearing as the star of this news story.

Homeowner Bryan Peabody was taking pictures behind his home when something caught his eye. Peabody saw a Florida bobcat sitting on the pond's edge, so he grabbed his camera.

Police: Man leaves child in car, visits Tampa strip club

Tampa, Florida -- Tampa Police arrested a Lee County man Tuesday morning for child neglect after he left his toddler unattended in a car while visiting a Tampa strip club.

Police say just after 2 a.m., the manager of the Emperor’s Gentlemen’s club on Adamo Drive heard crying while walking back and forth between two buildings. He said his attention was drawn to a 2012 Dodge Avenger in the parking lot, where he discovered the 1-year-old boy sitting inside. He immediately called police. 

Wandering gator an unwelcome visitor

New Tampa, Florida - Aaron French never fancied himself an alligator wrangler, but that's just the position he found himself roped into this morning, after a neighbor out walking discovered a gator doing the same.

"The gator was walking down the corridor towards the houses," says French, pointing at a narrow sidewalk to two adjoining homes.

Drunk driver visits jail prior to arrest

Tampa, Florida -- A man was arrested Tuesday night for DUI after he showed up to a jail lobby drunk and drove off.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, around 11:22 p.m., 48-year-old Terry Zimmer showed up at the Orient Road Jail with two other people. Detention deputies noticed they all appeared to be drunk and called patrol officers to assist.

While officers were enroute, Zimmer and another person left. He didn't get far as he was pulled over on Orient Road by police.

Suspect commits crime 16 minutes after getting out of jail

Hillsborough County, Florida-- According to a Hillsborough County release, Marcus Wayne Hunt, 22, was released from Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office jail after posting bond on April 14, 2012 around 4:20p.m, and committed another crime just 16 minutes later. 

Tampa Police Department had arrested Hunt earlier the same day on charges of Fleeing and Attempting to Elude Police and No Valid Driver's License.

Pasco man jailed after calling 911 on his wife

WESLEY CHAPEL, Florida (AP) - A Florida man is serving jail time - all because he wanted to check his Facebook page.

Problem was his wife wouldn't leave him alone. The Tampa Bay Times reports 57-year-old Doyle Hardwick gave his wife beer in hopes she would go to sleep.

Image of Virgin Mary appears at hamburger restaurant

Tampa, Florida -- An Ybor City restaurant's name has taken on a new meaning after some say the image of the Virgin Mary appeared on one of its walls.

The restaurant is Hamburger Mary's and the image first got attention over the weekend after some customers noted its appearance on a stainless steel plate on the wall near the kitchen.
