Screen on the Green: Shrek showing rescheduled due to rain

Tampa, Florida-- Due to the threat of inclement weather, the Screen on the Green showing of the movie Shrek has been rescheduled for Friday, June 29 at 8:30 p.m. in Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park.

Linda Carlo, the superintendent of the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department, made the announcement just before 6 this everning.

Tampa, Florida - Despite the Internet, cell phones, email and modern communications, every year entire regions find themselves in the dark, so this weekend, the Tampa Bay "hams" will join other Amateur Radio operators to show their emergency capabilities to the public.

According to a recent release:

"Tornadoes, fires, storms, ice and even the occasional cutting of fiber optic cables leave people without the means to communicate.

Plant City, Florida-- Severe thunderstorms caused damage in the Plant City area today.

Near U-92 and Wiggins Road, trees and even power lines were blown over.

It has been reported that over 100 TECO customers in the area do not currently have power.

Tampa, Florida-- The City of Tampa and Hillsborough County, in partnership with MOSI, will host the 2012 Tampa Bay Hurricane Expo from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, at the Museum of Science & Industry.

Admission to the Tampa Bay Hurricane Expo is FREE, and will include access to MOSI's Astronaut Training Adventure.

In addition, Tampa Bay Hurricane Expo guests can enjoy MOSI exhibit galleries and one standard IMAX(r) Dome Theatre film for only $8 per person (children under 2 admitted FREE!
