It's twins!- Busch Gardens' Mongoose Lemurs give birth to rare pair of babies

Tampa, Florida-- Earlier this month, Busch Gardens witnessed an uncommon event: the birth of mongoose lemur twins.

On Friday, April 6, the two babies were born to 17-year-old mother Rosalita and 18-year-old father Guillermo. Rosalita’s first baby – a male named Duggan – was also born at Busch Gardens and moved to another zoo for breeding.

Apollo Beach, Florida -- The animal care staff at the South Florida Museum's Parker Manatee Aquarium released a young female manatee nicknamed "Brandee" this week from the Apollo Beach Nature Preserve at 6760 Surfside Boulevard in Apollo Beach.

Hillsborough County, FL -- The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Statewide Nuisance Alligator Program is now accepting applications for contracted nuisance-alligator trappers in Hillsborough County.

Applicants must have a clean criminal record, no fish or wildlife law violations and a valid, working email address. Also, applicants must reside in the county in which they intend to work.

Applications must be received by Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012.
