Vote for USF student's video in Teens Drive Smart Contest

Nashville, Tennessee - Mark Araya, a student at the University of South Florida, hopes the public will help him win a $25,000 college scholarship in the Bridgestone Americas Teens Drive Smart Video Contest.

Araya is one of 10 contestants whose videos have been selected in the national scholarship competition. The contest challenges 16-to 21-year old students to create short videos about safe driving and ways to make better decisions behind the wheel. Araya's video was chosen from 2,322 entries received by Bridgestone Americas.

Lane Closure on North Jefferson between Whiting and Washington St.

Tampa, Florida--  The City of Tampa Wastewater Department announces the need to repair an 8" sewer mainline located in the 100 block of North Jefferson Avenue.

The work, to take place between Whiting and Washington Streets, will begin tomorrow, July 11.

To facilitate this repair, the inside northbound and southbound lanes on Jefferson Avenue will be closed.

The outside lanes will remain open at all times for traffic. 

Signage and arrow boards will be in place to guide motorists through this area while this repair is underway.

Tampa, Florida -- The Tampa Water Department has closed the intersection of West Spruce Street and Marie Avenue while crews work to repair a broken water main.

Marked local detours are in place for all traffic approaching this intersection.

The city says repairs are expected to be completed by this afternoon. Normal traffic patterns are expected to resume by 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, following road restoration, depending on weather conditions.

Tampa, Florida--  The Tampa Water Department announced the temporary closure of N Franklin St. between Polk and Cass st. in downtown Tampa while Tampa Water Department crews repair a water main.

According to the department, they expected to complete repairs by 3:30 p.m. today, and for restoration to be completed by 3:30 p.m., Monday, June 25.

Completion does depend on weather conditions. 

They say barricades and signs mark the area, and assist with traffic flow.

Tampa, Florida-- Tampa Police Department announced that the outage of traffic lights for an extended period of time at Pierce Street and Zack Street. 

There is only lane open in both directions at this time. 

Drivers should use other routes in the Downtown area.

Tampa, Florida-- To adjust to bus ridership trends and improve the cost-efficiency of the system, HART is proposing bus service and fare changes, effective Nov. 11, 2012.

Accoring to HART, proposed service modifications will impact the following bus routes: 30, 34, 37, 28X, 50X, 61LX, Brandon HARTFlex and bus service on holidays.
