Nightly lane closures through September 13

Tampa, Florida--  The Florida Department of Transportation has announced nightly lane closures in the Temple Terrace and University areas beginning tonight.

They are as follows:

-Night lane closures on I-75 in Fowler to Fletcher areas

One lane will be closed on southbound I-75 in the Fowler Avenue area (Exit 265) from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Tuesday (September 9 - 11) nights.

One lane will also be closed on the Fowler entrance ramp onto southbound I-75.

I-4 resurfacing from McIntosh Rd. to Branch Forbes Rd.

Plant City, Florida-- The Florida Department of transportation has announced nightly lane closures on I-4 from McIntosh Rd. to branch Forbes Rd. due to the resurfacing project taking place.

"One lane may be closed on eastbound I-4 between McIntosh Road (Exit 14) and Branch Forbes Road (Exit 17) from 8 p.m. Sunday (September 9) to 6 a.m. Monday (September 10)."

In addition, Lane striping work is planned from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Sunday (September 10 - 16) nights.

They advise commuters to be alert to slow-moving vehicles in any lane.

Riverview, Florida-- The Florida Department of Transportation announced nightly lane closures beginning on Sunday, September 9 and lasting through Thursday, September 13 on Gibsonton Drive at I-75.

"One lane may be closed in either direction of Gibsonton Drive at I-75 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m."

Bruce B. Downs Blvd. shut down near 42nd St.

Tampa, Florida-- Hillsborough Deputies have closed Bruce B. Downs Blvd. in both directions near 42nd St. to conduct an investigation of a traffic accident.

The accident reportedly caused injuries for those involved, and nearby power lines to fall.

Authorities say TECO is en route to deal with the power lines.

Police: 14,000 to attend Ron Paul event Sunday; expect traffic!

Tampa, Florida-- The University of South Florida Police Department anticipates lots of traffic on Sunday when Congressman Ron Paul visits the Sun Dome.

They say as many as 14,000 people are expected to attend the event, meaning that all parking in the southeastern quadrant of the campus will be filled by attendees, beginning as early as 9 a.m. and extending through after 5 p.m.

I-275 Fowler exit closed tonight

I-275 Fowler exit closed tonight

Tampa, Florida-- The northbound I-275 Exit 51 ramp to Fowler Ave. will be closed from 10 p.m. tonight until 6 a.m. tomorrow morning.

Those who frequent the ramp will be detoured to Fletcher Ave., Exit 52, and then onto southbound I-275 to Fowler Ave.

Website to help drivers cope downtown during RNC

Tampa, Florida --The Republican National Convention which begins in less than two weeks is expected to create a traffic nightmare for commuters in Downtown Tampa. 

To ease the pain the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority ( TBARTA) has created a website it is calling "Commuter Solutions".  

The website www.RNC-Traffic.com will have links to transportation related to the event.
