New interstate exit ramps open in Wesley Chapel

Wesley Chapel, Florida -- The Florida Department of Transportation has completed work on the new northbound I-75 and I-275 exit ramps to SR 56 and they are now open to traffic.

DOT advises drivers using the new ramp to be alert: They come about 2 miles before the old exits. Signs and temporary message boards will guide drivers to the new ramps.

Tampa, FL -- Average retail gasoline prices in Tampa fell 6.2 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.51/g yesterday.

This compares with the national average that fell 4.7 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.60/g, according to gasoline price website TampaGasPrices.com.

Including the change in gas prices in Tampa during the past week, prices yesterday were 88.6 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 7.4 cents per gallon lower than a month ago.

Gas leak closes road near VA Hospital

Tampa, FL -- Hillsborough County Fire Rescue has closed down 131st Ave. between Livingston and 23rd Street due to a gas leak at the VA Hospital.

All but 1,200 - 1,800 gallons of a truck's 18,000 gallon load were taken off, and crews are burning off the rest.

At the rate of burning, 131st Ave. between the two streets will be closed until late afternoon or early evening.

According to Fire Rescue, the leak came from a vent on top of the tank that appears to have been rusted from normal exposure to environmental elements.

Tampa, FL -- The ongoing widening construction of Bruce B Downs Blvd continues on with seemingly little progress. However, the project is on schedule and despite appearances, progress is being made.

The current focus for the overall project is Segment B & C of Phase I (3.5 miles) from Palm Springs Blvd south of I-75 to Pebble Creek Drive north of I-75.

The contractor has completed the main sewer line from I-75 to Pebble Creek Drive along with retention pond #2. Retention pond #3 is under construction.

Gas prices fall in Tampa, time to fill up!

Tampa, FL -- Average retail gasoline prices in Tampa fell 4.4 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.58/g yesterday.

This compares with the national average that fell 3.7 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.66/g, according to gasoline price website TampaGasPrices.com.

Including the change in gas prices in Tampa during the past week, prices yesterday were 92.1 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 5.1 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.

Tampa, FL -- Drivers may see a delay getting to work on Monday morning.

The Florida Department of Transportation and CSX says they will be closing Nebraska Avenue at the railroad tracks just south of Cass Street starting Monday, Aug. 8 at 9 a.m. to replace the tracks.

The road will reopen Sunday, August 14.
