Riverview defeats Armwood 77-48 in Girls Basketball

Seffner, FL - After a slow start, the Riverview Sharks got their running game in high gear, helping them easily defeat the Armwood Lady Hawks 77-48, in girls basketball.   The win, coach Lelani Gordon's 400th career victory, gives the Sharks the top seed in the upcoming Class 5A-District 8 Tournament.

Poor shooting and sloppy ball handling helped Armwood grab an 11-9 lead after the first period.   But Riverview, showing good energy, size and quickness, dominated the boards and surged ahead with a run late in the second period, leading 40-25 at the half.

The second half was more of the same as the Sharks had five players scoring in double figures for the game.   Riverview senior guard, Ashley Favors, who recently went over the 1000 point mark for her career, led all scores with 22 points.

Sophomore guard Dejoun Dennard added 16 points, 14 in the first half, to led Armwood scorers.
