Game-winning FG kicks Armwood to state final

Seffner, Fla. -- Ash Dudney will forever be part of Armwood football's storied history. The senior kicked a 40-yard field goal as time expired to give Armwood a 22-20 victory over Dwyer in a 4A state semifinal.

Dwyer took a 20-19 lead with just 19 seconds remaining when quarterback Jacoby Brissett connected with Tommy Lee Lewis for a 13-yard score.  After a failed two-point conversion, Armwood had one last chance.

Hawks quarterback Josh Grady saved his best for the end.  The senior connected on two long passes to get Dudney in field goal range.

It capped a superb night for Grady.  He finished 8-of-12 passing for 294 yards and three touchdowns.

First was a 71-yard touchdown to running back Matt Jones.  Then Grady hooked up with Ronnie Thomas for scores of 62 and 60 yards.

Armwood advances to the 4A state championship game where the Hawks will face Tallahassee Lincoln.  Armwood will go for the school's third title to go along with back-to-back championships in 2003 and 2004.
