Canoe and kayak rentals available in Ruskin

Ruskin, Florida -- Park visitors to E.G. Simmons Park, at 2401 19th Ave., N.W. in Ruskin, can rent a canoe or kayak to explore the scenic park in a different way.

Four-hour rentals are offered at $25. A park entry fee will also apply at $2 per vehicle carrying up to eight people, and $1 each additional person. Only cash, check and traveler's check payments are accepted.

The American Red Cross Tampa Bay Chapter has released the schedule for upcoming health and safety classes that will take place in February and March in Pinellas, Pasco, and Hillsborough counties.

The Red Cross offers a wide variety of training courses in first aid, CPR, AED, lifeguarding, swimming, babysitting, caregiving, and other areas for both individuals and organizations. The Red Cross is the most trusted training provider of health and safety training that meets OSHA guidelines and many other professional and regulatory standards.

The 2012 Strawberry Festival begins March 1 and runs until the 11th.

This is the 77th Annual Florida Strawberry Festival and the theme this year is "Growing Sweet Memories."

Tampa, FL -- While retail gasoline prices already have consumers concerned about gas reaching $4 a gallon after the recent price jump last week, the new question is whether or not the national average will rise to $4.20 by spring or summer.

According to AAA Club South, while there’s the possibility pump prices could surpass $4 a gallon, it’s still too early to say exactly what the marquee will read four to six months down the road.

Tampa, FL - The Bull Market is a weekly flea market hosted by the Marshall Student Center and showcases a variety of student organizations, university departments, and local businesses in the area.

This Spring, the Bull Market can be found on the MSC Plaza. Many years ago, Bull Market started on MLK Plaza, then moved to Sessum's Mall near Cooper Hall.

Now that the Marshall Student Center has opened a new plaza where the old University Center/Marshall Center stood, the Bull Market is back where it started.

Park Cart offers free activities downtown

Park Cart offers free activities downtown

Tampa, Florida -- The Downtown Partnership is trying to bring more activities to the area and is operating what's called, "The Park Cart" on Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Curtis Hixon Park in downtown Tampa.

The cart has recreational items including kick balls, Frisbees, games, Hula Hoops and blankets which people can borrow at no charge.

Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park is located at 600 N. Ashley Drive in downtown Tampa.
