MOSI receives 2011 Community Supporter of the Year Award

Tampa, FL -- The Museum of Science & Industry is the proud recipient of the Tampa Bay Technology Forum Award for "Community Supporter of the Year".

The panel of judges selected MOSI as the recipient of the 2011 "Community Supporter of the Year" award as part of TBTF's 8th Annual Industry Achievement Awards event that was held on Nov. 4.

The other finalists for this year's award were the Florida Advanced Technological Education Center (FLATE) and the Science Center of Pinellas.

Crime Busters Camp at MOSI

Tampa, FL -- Solve crimes searching for clues like a detective while using science to tell you "whodunit" during a day of mystery fun.

Students in kindergarten - 5th grade can learn to interview suspects, search a crime scene and bring your case to court. Meet with law enforcement professionals to reveal what it's like to really catch criminals.

It all takes place Friday, Nov. 11 from 9 a.m to 4 p.m.

Tampa, FL - The Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority's (TBARTA) virtual gathering place for people to share their views on regional transportation issues, traffic conditions and commuting in the Tampa Bay area has recently been update with new content and functionality.

The Transportation Lounge website allows registered users to post comments, ask questions, respond to others' posts and link information to their Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Get a free drink at MOSI After Dark

Tampa, FL - The Museum of Science & Industry will open its doors to the public at night for a unique chance for guests to party at a museum.

The new event is called MOSI After Dark, also referred to as M.A.D. and will be held every first Tuesday of the month starting Nov. 1.

Festivities will take place outside next to the Sky Trail® Ropes Course. Guests should check in at the MOSI box office before heading outside to the party.

Wii teen challenge at Riverview library

Riverview, Florida - Teens are encouraged to gather after school on Wednesday, Nov. 2 to compete against their friends by playing games on Nintendo's Wii video game console.

The event is free and starts at 4 p.m. and lasts until 5 p.m. but groups must register in advance by calling the Riverview Branch Library at (813) 273-3652.

The event is being held in the community room of the library which is located at 10509 Riverview Drive in Riverview.
