Senior independent living community to join USF area

Tampa, Florida-- New Vision Communities (NVC) announces the development of Haley Park, a new community designed specifically for independent, elderly Veterans, to begin this coming Fall. 

The community will be located near the James A. Haley Veterans hospital at 15th Street and 131st Ave, and is projected to offer close to 70 one-bedroom and two-bedroom units, as well as a pool, fitness center, computer facility, theater, hair salon and library.

Tampa Bay, Florida -- A two-week home parade kicks off Saturday featuring 36 home builders from more than 50 communities throughout Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas. Nearly 90 homes will be featured in this year's Tampa Bay Parade of Homes that runs from March 17 to April 1.

Ybor building saved from demo to reopen Tuesday

Tampa, Fla. -- A 90-year-old Ybor City building that was saved from demolition will reopen Tuesday, Feb. 28 after being renovated and restored.

A $100,000 grant from the City of Tampa's Community Redevelopment Agency was used to help save the historic Ferlita Macaroni Factory.

Paint Your Heart Out comes to Tampa

Tampa, Florida -- The City of Tampa is looking for homes that qualify for the Paint Your Heart Out Program.

Each year more than 2,500 volunteers help elderly and low income people get their homes painted. This year the Paint Your heart out event is set for April 21.

Starling Club to break ground late spring

Lithia, FL -- FishHawk Ranch recently revealed plans for a new community building for residents that will break ground in late spring and plans to be completed by the end of the year.

The community says nearly 500 families submitted their ideas through an online survey to help influence the design of the building. The new Starling Club will feature two pools, a cardio room, game room, a playground and dog park.

Drywall dispute goes public

TAMPA, Fla. -- It is a stately home on Davis Islands, but what it's known for now is a statement.

"It's a little extreme," says resident Jesse Mortillo of a large banner on the house. "But it is a major issue, so to make people aware of it is a good thing, but it's also kind of an eyesore at the same time."

The house belongs to Billy and Stacy Peek and the banner reads, "Devonshire Properties, Inc. built this home with Chinese drywall and will not repair it."
