Share your vision of the Terrace Park - University Square area

Tampa, Florida -- The Planning Commission invites you to participate in a series of public meetings and workshops to develop a Vision Plan for the Terrace Park - University Square (TPUS) area.

This vision plan is being developed for the City of Tampa by the Planning Commission, working with area stakeholders.

The meeting takes place Thursday, Jan. 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Museum of Science & Industry located on 4801 East Fowler Avenue in Tampa.

FishHawk, Florida -- FishHawk Ranch is proud to live in the first "green" community in Hillsborough County, certified by the Florida Green Building Coalition. 

The National Arbor Day Foundation and the State of Florida also have honored the FishHawk Ranch community for its preservation efforts.

Over 25 miles of trails wind throughout the FishHawk Ranch community, each carefully planned to minimize the impact to existing plants and wildlife, and there is a park or open space within one-quarter mile of each home.

Tampa, Florida -- If you are a teen or the parent of a teen in the Westchase area, there's an opportunity to give back to the community.

The Upper Tampa Bay Regional Public Library's Teen Advisory Board is looking for new members.

This is a great way to earn community service hours or simply get involved and get to know other teens in your area.

The meeting starts at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8 and is scheduled to end by 7:15 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Community Room.

The Teen Advisory Board is open to teens in grades 6-12.

Bond with your baby through reading

Tampa, Florida -- The Upper Tampa Bay Regional Public Library offers several free classes to kids and families and one coming up this week may interest those of you with babies!

On Wednesday, Jan. 2 parents and caregivers are encouraged to bring their babies 0-18 months old to the library's community room where they can bond with their little ones through reading.

The 20-minute program will introduce literacy skills and help encourage language development.

The class starts at 10:15 a.m.

Portions of Alderman's Ford Park Trail temporarily closed starting Jan. 2

Lithia, Florida -- Hillsborough County has announced that portions of the trail at Alderman's Ford Regional Park in Lithia will be closed beginning Wednesday, Jan. 2, due to a renovation project.

This project is scheduled to last 90 days.

During this renovation project, the County says three bridges located on the trail spanning the Alafia River will undergo renovation. Each individual bridge will be closed temporarily during this time. The trail will remain open. However, portions of it will be shortened.

FishHawk, Florida -- Calling all unwanted books. The Osprey Club is now accepting book donations to benefit Goodwill - Suncoast. 

Simply place any used books you wish to donate on the library shelf in the area marked "Goodwill" during business hours Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. or Saturdays noon - 5 p.m.

Learn Movie Maker editing tools

Tampa, Florida -- If you've struggled on your own to figure out how to use Movie Maker, the Upper Tampa Bay Regional Public Library in Westchase will be holding a one-hour training event today!

The class is geared toward adults and will be held this afternoon from 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

You will learn how to edit transitions, add video effects and add credits.

The class is limited to nine adults. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Reference Desk at the library.
