Public invited to meeting to beautify U.S. 41 in Apollo Beach

Apollo Beach, Florida -- Hillsborough County invites the public to attend an introductory open house on the proposed U.S. 41 zoning overlay district.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss creating a zoning overlay district along U.S. 41 between Big Bend Road and the Little Manatee River as part of implementing the Apollo Beach and Ruskin Community Plans.

The overlay district will not affect the current zoning of properties, but will address establishing standards to improve and enhance the physical appearance of the U.S. 41 corridor. Standards typically address landscaping, signage, architecture and site design.

Community garden group celebrates two years!

Seminole Heights -- The very first community gardening group in Seminole Heights is celebrating its second anniversary!

While the 407 W. Violet Street Garden is a temporary location generously donated by Linda Ketley of Seminole Heights, the gardening movement is throughout the entire community. During the two years at Violet Street, the group is constantly looking to create permanent locations throughout Seminole Heights as satellite gardens and what they hope could be a large enough location to provide a fresh market of locally grown, organic food.

The best way to say happy birthday is to join in and grow your own too! Find out more at the official website or on facebook.
