Summer Concerts for a Cause are back!

Fish Hawk -- Grab your tie dyed finest and put flowers in your hair for the 60s tribute band Yesterdayze, the first band to be featured in FishHawk Ranch's Summer Concerts for the Cause. 

The concert series will run every Friday night from June 10 - Aug. 19. The band will perform live in Park Square to help raise money through donations for a raffled prize.   Concertgoers are asked to bring non-perishable food items to donate to Feeding America Tampa Bay.  For more information, visit FishHawk Connect

Veterans Memorial Park now open to the public

Veterans Memorial Park now open to the public

Tampa, FL -- The Hillsborough County Veterans Memorial Park and the Rear Admiral LeRoy Collins, Jr. Veterans Museum are now open to the public.

The park, located on 3602 N. US Highway 301 in Tampa, closed in January due to ongoing site enhancements.

Construction is still in progress throughout the park during operating hours, but will not impede access by visitors.  The completed portion of the project includes a new park entrance, driveway and parking lots.  Work currently being performed includes installation of front gates and walkway improvements that will provide access to future war memorials.

Tampa, Florida -- Access is a power data base system that can cull information from complex sources.

The John Germany Library at 900 N. Ashley Drive in downtown Tampa is offering the basics of table design in Access.

Table design allows a user to set up queries to the date base to find significant information from the various columns of information.

The class is scheduled from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 8 in the computer lab at the library.

A course in Access l is recommended for those taking this course.

New Tampa 160-acre Park/Sports complex

New Tampa 160-acre Park/Sports complex

Tampa, FL -- Plans will soon be revealed for a proposed 160 acre park-sports complex near Wiregrass Ranch.

The proposed site is just northeast of The Shops at Wiregrass and will include a dozen soccer or multi-use fields and 9 baseball and softball fields. 

In addition, two lakes are planned at 16 acres and 20 acres allowing for canoeing, kayaking, picnicking.  There will also be around 5 miles of nature trails through the park.

Look for the plan to be revealed in detail this month.

On Thursday, May 26 from 12:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. you can learn how to check out and download eBooks to your PC or eReader during an introduction to eBooks.

You can also learn how to transfer media from CDs and digital cameras to your PC.

Tampa church gets historic marker

Tampa church gets historic marker

Tampa, FL -- A downtown Tampa church, that has been around for 118 years, now has a historic designation.

Sunday, a ceremony took place at Greater Bethel Missionary Baptist Church along North Jefferson Street to dedicate the marker.

Church members along with several city officials - including Mayor Bob Buckhorn - attended the ceremony.

The dedication also served as a look back into the historical significance of the church and the role it has played since 1893. It was a focal point for many in the African-American community.

Civil War for history buffs in New Tampa

Civil War for history buffs in New Tampa

Coming this Tuesday, May 17, you can attend a one hour meeting on the Civil War and the impact it had on the Tampa Bay area. 

Meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the New Tampa Regional Library on Cross Creek Blvd.

Ross Lamoreaux from the Tampa Bay History Center will give an entertaining and informative presentation on the impact of the Civil War on the Tampa Bay area, with a focus on Fort Brooke and its troops.
