Learn to run a restaurant, catering business or food truck in Ruskin April 2

Ruskin, Florida - Adults are invited to a two-part series where organizers say you can learn the basic requirements of running a restaurant, catering business or a mobile food dispensing cart.

The event is being held at the Ruskin Branch Library at 26 Dickman Dr. S.E. in Ruskin from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2nd. The event is presented by the Hillsborough County Small Business Information Center.

Harney Boat Ramp to close temporarily during Regatta Season

Tampa, Florida-- Attention boaters in Hillsborough County! If you usually use the Harney Boat Ramp off U.S. 301, you may have to find a temporary alternative on select dates through April.

The county announced this week that the ramp, located at 7115 N. U.S. Highway 301, will be closed during several upcoming regattas.

Ruskin, Florida -- The Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative is inviting the public out for programs that they say will be interesting, entertaining and informative for the entire family in honor of Black History Month.

There will be a free puppet show: Why Frog And Snake Never Play Together presented on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the Firehouse Cultural Center, 101 1st Ave. NE in Ruskin.

Florida State Parks announces new, free mobile app

Florida-- Trees, lakes, trails, wildlife- they're all things that come to mind when thinking about Florida's parks. Techonology, smartphones and applications, howeverm are probably the last things to come to mind- until now!

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Park Services department has announced the launch of their new, free mobile application, which will serve as an interactive guide for users on the go at any of Florida's 171 parks, trails and historic sites.

Tampa, Florida -- The Upper Tampa Bay Regional Public Library will be offering a free introductory class to Microsoft Excel.

The hour-long class will be offered on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 2:30 p.m.

Among the skills students will learn learn includes how to work with the layout, entering data and how to insert rows and columns.

The class size is limited to nine people, so sign up early on the day of the class. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. at the library's Reference Desk.

UPDATE: Health advisory issued for Ben T. Davis Beach

Tampa, Florida -- UPDATE: The health advisory issued on Jan. 30 for Ben T. Davis Beach has been lifted after health officials say follow-up testing came back satisfactory results.

The Hillsborough County Health Department issued a health advisory for Ben T. Davis Beach Wednesday after samples taken Monday revealed higher than normal levels of enterococci bacteria.

The beach will be re-sampled on Feb. 4.
