Registration deadline for Presidential Preference Primary

Earl Lennard, Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections, wants to remind the public that Tuesday, Jan. 3, is the registration deadline for voters who wish to cast a ballot in the upcoming Presidential Preference Primary.

New voter and change of party registrations must be postmarked by Jan. 3, or delivered to any elections office by 5 p.m. on Jan. 3, 2012.

As a "closed primary" state, voters must be registered members of a political party to vote for that party's candidate.

Meeting regarding improvements to Gibsonton street

Gibsonton, Florida - Hillsborough County is holding a public meeting to discuss proposed improvements to the intersection of Symmes Road and East Bay Road in the Gibsonton area.

The proposed improvements include an interim project, that is funded, to install a new traffic signal with mast arms, ADA-compliant ramps and pedestrian crosswalks.

Proposed future improvements, not currently funded for construction, include additional turn-lanes, sidewalks and bicycle lanes, and construction of curbs and gutters.

Public meeting to discuss FishHawk Sports Complex Expansion and park funds

Lithia, FL -- Public input is needed on plans to expand the FishHawk Sports Complex and discuss FishHawk Community Park Funds at a public meeting on Dec. 14.

The county says the budget for Fishhawk Sports Complex Expansion is approximately $2.8 million and is funded through Parks Impact Fees. The project would accommodate expansion of soccer and football programs with up to five additional fields, and it would support infrastructure such as utilities, parking, storm water retention, and ancillary buildings.

Plant City, FL -- Hillsborough County Commissioner Kevin Beckner, District 6 Countywide, is hosting his fourth quarterly Neighborhood Meeting. This meeting is the final Neighborhood Meeting in a series of four held in each of the single-member Commission districts.

The District 4 meeting will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 6, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Plant City City Hall, 302 W. Reynolds St. in Plant City.

They also voted to select Commissioner Sandra L. Murman, District 1, as Vice-Chair, and approved Commissioner Lesley “Les” Miller, Jr., District 3, as the new Chaplain.
