Affordable Housing Advisory Board to meet

Tampa, Florida-- The Hillsborough County Affordable Housing Advisory Board will meet on Monday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m., in Conference Room B on the 26th Floor of County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd., in downtown Tampa.

The purpose of the Affordable Housing Advisory Board is to advise and make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners and Affordable Housing Officer on issues affecting housing development.

A special AHAB Sub-Committee meeting is not scheduled to follow the October meeting.

Attorney General to speak in downtown Tampa

Tampa, Florida -- Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi will be the featured speaker at the 21st Mabel H. Baxley Gift of Peace Breakfast.

The breakfast is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Oct. 7 at the Tampa Convention Center in downtown Tampa.

The event is a benefit for the Spring of Tampa Bay which provides shelter for abused women and their children. Mabel Baxley was the long time director of the agency.

Code Enforcement holds hearings on water violations

Tampa, FL -- The Hillsborough County Code Enforcement Special Magistrate for Water Resource Services is scheduled to meet Monday, Sept. 19 at 9 a.m. in the 2nd Floor Boardroom at County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd. in downtown Tampa.

The Special Magistrate is authorized to hear violations concerning all codes and ordinances of Hillsborough County in order to maintain health and safety standards.

Any person who decides to appeal the decision of the Code Enforcement Special Magistrate with respect to any matter considered at this meeting will need a record of the proceedings, and for such purposes, may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is based.  An appeal must be filed within thirty (30) days after the execution of the Code Enforcement Special Magistrate's Order.

Tampa, FL -- The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners will hold a public hearing to receive public comment and consider adoption of Hillsborough County's proposed Capital Improvements Program for Fiscal Years 2012 through 2017.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. at the Frederick B. Karl County Center, 2nd Floor, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd. in downtown Tampa.

Tampa, Florida- It is the committee that monitors how your tax dollars are being spent and it is meeting this week in downtown Tampa.

The Hillsborough County Internal Audit Committee will have its first meeting Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 1 p.m. in Conference Room B on the 26th floor of County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa.

Legislative Subcommittee to meet in downtown Tampa

The Legislative Subcommittee of the Hillsborough Board of County Commissioners will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 2:15 p.m.

The meeting will be held on the 26th Floor of County Center, in Conference Room B, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd., in downtown Tampa.

The Legislative Subcommittee is comprised of Commissioners Al Higginbotham, Sandra Murman, Victor Crist, and Les Miller, and focuses on state legislative issues of interest to the Board and Hillsborough County.

Former county administrator and attorney want legal fees paid

Hillsborough County, Florida -- Two former executives are asking for the public to spend tax money to cover their legal fees.

The Special Hearing Officer will consider former County Administrator Patricia Bean's request for reimbursement of her criminal attorney fees and former County Attorney Renee Lee's similar request.

Bean was fired after 10 News uncovered she gave herself a raise without telling county commissioners.
