This free indoor event attracts thousands of pet lovers looking to enjoy a day out with their furry, feathered or reptilian pals!

Riverview, Florida -- There's a Pet-A-Thon pet adoption event taking place this weekend on Saturday, March 23 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Progressive Insurance has partnered with local adoption agencies to try to find homes for needy dogs and cats.:

What: Progressive Pet-A-Thon
When: Saturday, March 23 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Where: Progressive Service Center, 4118 Foxworth Rd., Riverview, FL (Across from the Progressive buildings)

West Tampa, Florida -- The Courteous Canine Super Splash event is coming March 16 to Courteous Canine Inc.

This Splash Dogs event is open to any dog/handler team that wishes to enter. You may do this either online or at the event at least one hour before the event the dog will compete in. Those who preregister will be given priority so preregister to ensure a spot in the splash.

Participants will be required to pay the registration fee (no credit cards--check or cash only), sign a waiver and show papers when they check-in at the event.

Lost Pomeranian sought in FishHawk community

FishHawk, Florida -- On Dec. 14, a resident of FishHawk Ranch posted on the community's website that they have lost their 1-year-old white female Pomeranian in the Garden District of FishHawk Ranch.

Hillsborough animal hospitals fostering shelter animals to up adoptions

Hillsborough Co., FL-- Increase animal adoptions and decrease the euthanasia rate. That's the goal of the Hillsborough Animal Health Foundation as it launches a new pilot program called "AWAKE".

As a part of the new program, local veterinary hospitals will foster pets from the Animal Shelter until a forever family can be found for them.

"These are pets that are beyond the normal wait time and would have to be euthanized, [without] this fostering program," explained a foundation representative.
