Plant City man arrested for 2010 hit and run death

Plant City, FL -- On the morning of July 14, Highway Patrol investigators arrested a Plant City man on charges of leaving the scene of a crash back in 2010 that killed a Lakeland man.

According to investigators, the charges against 22-year-old Kyle A. Brown, of Plant City, stem from a Sept. 19, 2010, fatal traffic crash that killed 63-year-old David N. Rife.  Brown was taken to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office jail and issued a bond of $15,000.

The FHP investigation revealed that the early morning crash occurred as both men traveled south in the inside lane on SR-700 near Duff Road.

Temple Terrace, FL -- A 30-year-old woman was killed Tuesday morning when her Volkswagen Jetta was hit broadside by another vehicle at Fowler Avenue and Raintree Boulevard in Temple Terrace.

Temple Terrace police identified the woman as Michelle Denise Baylies of Coral Springs, FL.

Baylies died at the scene of the accident. Police say she had been staying recently with a friend in the Raintree residential community.

A preliminary investigation indicates Baylies was traveling east on Fowler Avenue, at around 2:17 a.m. on July 12, when she apparently attempted to make a left turn onto Raintree Boulevard. Police say there was a flashing yellow traffic light at the intersection.

Strand of hair nearly severs child's toe

Temple Terrace, Florida -- Doctors say a strand of hair was so tightly wrapped around a child's toe, it was nearly cut off.

Kimberly Grubb brought her baby daughter Norah Saed to University Community Hospital early Friday, because she was crying so much.  That's when doctors discovered one toe was nearly amputated, and others severely swelled because of a hair strand wrapped around them.
