Fallen Tampa officers to be honored at Rose Parade

Tampa, Florida -- Two Tampa police officers who were gunned down in the line of duty will be honored at the Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year's Day.

Floral portraits of Officers Jeffrey Kocab and Dave Curtis will be part of a float from the group Donate Life, which encourages people to become organ, eye and tissue donors.

On Tuesday, the wives of Officers Kocab and Curtis, along with Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor, will put the final decorations on the portraits before sending them off to Pasadena, California.

The Tournament of Roses parade will be held on New Years Day, 2011.

Officers Curt and Kocab were killed June 29, 2010 during a routine traffic stop.  Together, they approached a vehicle on the passenger side.  The next communication came from a citizen calling 911 reporting two officers shot.

After a four-day manhunt, Dontae Morris surrendered.  He has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
