Temple Terrace Police offer free bicycle light kits

Tampa, FL-- The Temple Terrace Police Department has 300 light kits to give away to cyclists as a part of a recently launched bicycle safety initiative.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) generously provided the kits, inclusive of a LED headlight and tail light, for attachment to any bike lacking the equipment.

Temple Terrace officers will be stopping riders without the proper lights and reflectors, and providing them with the kits to prevent accidents and educate the public on bicycle safety laws.

“Our goal is to enhance the safety of the many cyclists who travel throughout Temple Terrace,” Capt. Mike Pridemore said in the release. “This can be accomplished by enforcement and education. Education is the focus of this initiative.” Access the FDOT website for more information regarding bicycle safety laws.
