Cheap Eats: Burger 21

Cheap Eats: Burger 21

Tampa, Florida - If you normally don't consider yourself a burger fan, you must not have been introduced to Westchase's newest joint, Burger 21, yet.

One burger bite and you'll walk out the biggest beef-pusher around.  This owner-described "grown-up" spot goes through big changes on the 21st of every month, keeping it interesting for those who frequent.  Even the "Burger 21" and the milkshake menu change (monthly) and a percentage of sales are donated to local charities.

They're located in The Avenue at Westchase, so unless you're already out shopping you may have a bit of a drive ahead of you.  But, let me tell you, it's well worth it.

On Christmas, some volunteers volunteer for other volunteers

Tampa, Florida - It may seem as if just about everyone has taken the day off to be with family and friends this holiday, but a special group of people in the Tampa Bay area spent their day Saturday making sure that the homeless and hungry have something to celebrate.

For Marilyn Lehman, volunteering at Metropolitan Ministries in Tampa is a labor of love and that explains why she and her husband have been volunteering at the non-denominational, non-profit, faith-based organization for more than 20 years.

On Christmas, they volunteer so Christian volunteers can spend the day with their families. Marilyn says, "We try to help out the people that work here, that want the day off for Christmas. We are a Jewish congregation and we help to serve the homeless."

Lehman and her husband are members of Congregation Beth Am in New Tampa.

The store is filled with big-ticket items that many people want but few can afford.

So, these days, police say criminals tend to just help themselves.

Tampa, Florida - The wife of a Tampa Police Officer was accosted in a parking lot after leaving a department store on North Dale Mabry Wednesday night, the sheriff's office said.

The victim, whose name was withheld, said she had just left the Bealls store and was walking to her car when a man walked up behind her, put something to her back, and told her: "Don't scream and you won't get hurt."

"The victim thought it was a joke and she might know the person so she immediately turns around and realizes that she doesn't recognize the suspect," the sheriff's office said in a media release. "The victim screams and the suspect then attempted to grab her arm."

Body found identified as Emilio Martinez-Rodriguez

TAMPA, Florida -- The medican examiner has identified the body found in the vacant lot off Orient Road is that of a man who disappeared more than a week ago.

Emilio Martinez (Rodriguez), 34, vanished on Dec. 15 after leaving his home to get dinner for his pregnant wife.  Martinez was last seen on a neighbor's security video as his car approached his house.

He didn't make it to his front door and his car was also missing before workers making rounds at the Islamic Center of Tampa Bay found it Thursday afternoon.  They say the interior of the car was bleached and a body was lying face-down "40 or 50 feet away."
