Tampa, Florida -- A Southwest Airlines jet en route to Houston struck a flock of birds early Wednesday and had to return to Tampa International Airport.

About 11:30 a.m., the jet hit some birds, either egrets or seagulls, four miles north of the airport, according to Tampa International Airport.

No injuries were reported.
