Tampa, FL - Hillsborough County Fire Rescue crews responded to a structure fire located at 12401 Orange Blossom Oak Place around 11:00p.m. Wednesday night.

Upon arrival, HCFR found heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of the second story. Fire crews had to put the fire out from outside of the building due to the lack structural integrity.

HCFR was able to stop the fire from spreading to the adjacent buildings. A total of 12 units were lost to the fire.

The American Red Cross was on scene to help with the displacement of those families. There were no reported injuries to any of the tenants living in the apartments.

Hillsborough County Sheriff Deputies assisted with the initial evacuation. Two HCSO Deputies and two Firefighters were transported with smoke related injuries. One dog was rescued by HCFR from a first floor condo.

It is not clear if the occupants had functioning smoke alarms.

At this time, the fire is under investigation.
