Meeting on impact of Platt Street Bridge closure

Tampa, FL -- The Platt Street Bridge in downtown Tampa is scheduled to close Oct. 3 and County Commissioner Sandra Murman and County Staff are planning a Community Information Open House Meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 27, to discuss the upcoming closure of the Platt Street Bridge.

The Open House will start at 6 p.m.

The meeting will be held at the Freedman Tennis Court Center, 59 Columbia Drive, Davis Islands.

At the Open House, citizens will be able to hear a briefing and visit information stations to find alternate commuting options and to provide comment.

The Bridge closure is scheduled to start on Monday, Oct. 3, and is scheduled to last 105 days.

The closure is necessary as part of the required rehabilitation of the bridge to allow the contractor to open the drawbridge and perform replacement work on its components.

The full project is expected to be completed in the Spring of 2012.
