Synchronized swim team calls 10 News for help!

Tampa, Florida - They practice side by side for a sport they love dearly - synchronized swimming.  The Synchrays are a team of 21 girls from South Tampa.

They spend hours each week practicing and are training for competition.

The coach yelled out to swimmers, "I'm really happy with that swim. I want all of them to be that good!"

But, to compete to be the best, you need a place to practice, and for these talented young ladies, synchronized swimming has never felt so, out of synch.

Longtime coach Beth Moore told us, "I would just like an honest answer."

Coach Moore says she's done doing backflips, trying to get the city to listen to her concerns, and it all started with problems where they practice.

"But, the no answers are really most what's frustrating," said the coach.

The team was practicing at Bobby Hicks pool in South Tampa until they say they were told the pool could no longer be heated.  When 10 News was there, the pool was drained, and turkey vultures were flying out of it.

So, the team moved to the Interbay pool where they were left in the dark since the lights went out before Christmas.  Apparently, pool equipment needed to be ordered.

For now, the girls practice at the South Tampa YMCA, and they love it there.

"The Y has been wonderful," the coach told us. "They've been terrific and have let us practice here.  We love them and appreciate everything they've done."

But, the team still wanted answers, so they called 10 News.

"I'm so glad our parents called 10 News, and we thank you for your response to it because we just need answers," said Coach Moore.

And, we got those answers from the city.

The lights have been ordered and will be turned back on in late February, 10 News was told. The team can't wait.

So, in the end, here's how it stands for now: Until the heat is turned on at one pool, or the lights are turned on at the other, these synchronized swimmers are slightly sunk as they wait for a permanent practice spot.

10 News will continue to hold the city accountable.
