House fire brought under control on Sligh Avenue

Hillsborough County, FL -- A fire broke out at a home on Sligh Avenue early Tuesday morning while the residents were on vacation.

According to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, units responded the area of 3116 W. Sligh Ave this morning at 3:14 a.m. after reports of a smell of smoke.

The first units on scene reported flames through the roof and requested backup. Three engines, one Ladder, one Rescue and two Battalion Chiefs along with Tampa Fire Rescue who responded with an Engine brought a total of 20 firefighters to the scene.

The fire was brought under control within one hour but took crews another hour before all hot spots were completely extinguished.  Crews remain on the scene.

The residents were not home at the time of the fire and were reported to be on vacation. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the state Fire Marshal's Office.
