Arrest made in case of human remains found in Apollo Beach | News
Apollo Beach, Florida - Thursday night Hillsborough County Sheriff's detectives made an arrest in a murder case from May of last year.
Around 8:00 p.m last night detectives arrested 38 year old Richard Gigante of Tampa. He's been charged with Second Degree Murder in
connection with the death of his wife Megan Gigante.
On May 31, 2010, deputies responded to Adamsville Road off of U. S. Highway 41 north in Apollo Beach. A person living in the area discovered the remains of an unidentified female.
On June 4, 2010, detectives were able to identify the remains as those of Megan Gigante. Her husband Richard had reported her missing to the Tampa Police Department and said that she may have left in a Cadillac Escalade truck. Her remains were discovered the same day.
Detectives continued to work on the case and investigated numerous leads. They say they submitted evidence to be processed in the case and based on those leads and the evidence obtained they met with the State
Attorney's Office and presented their findings.
As a result of those findings, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Richard Gigante who was arrested in Pinellas County at a Chick-fil-A restaurant at 3740 Tampa Road.
