Carrollwood, Florida - Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCRF) will celebrate 40 years of service with a pair of public Anniversary Open Houses on Saturday, Aug. 24 from 10 a.m. - noon at the following locations:  

  • Station #42, 5209 Ehrlich Road in Carrollwood
  • Station #37, 5602 Providence Road in Riverview.

The free Anniversary Open House events will feature displays, fire safety education, and family-friendly activities with refreshments courtesy of Hillsborough County Firefighters, Local 2294.

The HCFR Anniversary Open Houses will offer station tours and the chance for kids of all ages to explore trucks and rescue vehicles. The HCFR Junior Firefighter Challenge arena will let children wear real gear and practice professional firefighting. 

In addition to the Open Houses, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue will commemorate its 40th Anniversary with a special ceremony on Tuesday, Aug. 27 from 1 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. at HCFR Headquarters located at 2711 E. Hanna Ave. in Tampa. 

The ceremony will feature former firefighters of distinction to recognize the agency's four decades of service and dedication to public safety through education and emergency planning initiatives.   

HCFR began as an all-volunteer force in the 1950s, hiring its first career, full-time firefighters in 1973.  HCRF has since evolved into one of the largest, most progressive fire departments in the State of Florida.
