Murder suspect Demetrius Parks has name in lights | News
Tampa, Florida-- You can see his face on surveillance video, and now you can see it in lights.
Demetrius Parks, a 23-year-old suspected murder, has his face plastered on digital billboards all over Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties. It's an effort to get him off the streets.
Cops say Parks is the gunman who shot and killed 49-year-old Horsley Shorter while robbing the Family Dollar on 40th street in Tampa last Sunday.
Melissa and Gary Kuykendall were as close as family with Shorter, and say Parks didn't have to kill him.
"That's just pure evil. I don't understand that., said Melissa. "I cant comprehend how anybody could do that to anybody."
"You can't make sense of it. You absolutely can't make sense of it," added Gary.
10 News has learned Parks is a career criminal. He has a massive rap sheet with dozens of offenses in his short life. He just spent time in the state pen on weapons charges.

CBS and Clear Channel stepped up and offered space on 30 billboards to flash Parks' mug to all of Tampa Bay. Cops hope that combined with a $16,000 reward will lead someone to rat him out.
The Kuykendalls say Shorter's family is grateful for all the effort to bring Parks to justice, and they are praying Parks does the right thing.
"I will pray for you," said Melissa.
"I would definitely want him to know, like my wife says, we are definitely praying for him. We're hope he would turn himself in," said Gary.
