Taxi driver shooting suspect arrested | News
Tampa, FL-- Tampa Police officials say they arrested one of the men suspected of shooting a taxi driver during an armed robbery last month, despite the driver's willingness to hand over the money. The second suspect remains on the loose.
According to reports, officials arrested 21-year-old Ricky Lamont Offutt, Jr. on December 20, and charged him with the attempted murder of the driver, 42-year-old Annuel Delicieux.
Previous reports said Delicieux was just dropping off a passenger on West Chestnut St. shortly before 3 a.m. on December 18 when a man approached him with a shotgun and demanded money.
Despite the fact that Delicieux handed over money, reports said the suspect shot him in the chest anyway.
When Delicieux tried to drive away, he crashed into an officer patrolling the area, who was able to call for an ambulance.
An update on Delecieux's condition has not been released, though he was listed in stable condition the day of the shooting.
Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay offered a reward for information on the suspects involved in the crime on December 20. They described the wanted men as follows:
Suspect #1 - about 6'0", mid to late 20's, dark complected, thin build, wearing dark clothing and jeans, armed with a black shotgun
Suspect #2 - black male, dark clothing
Officials have not released additional information on the second suspect, though they say this investigation remains "very active", and that detectives are still searching for him.
