Hillsborough rallies, gets Garcia 200th win

Tampa, Fla. -- Earl Garcia could double as a Hillsborough county high school football historian because he seems to remember everything and everybody about every game he coaches.

When he looks back at Hillsborough's 20-10 homecoming victory over Sickles, Garcia will note that it earned him career victory No. 200. Garcia was already second in county history to former Chamberlain coach Billy Turner's 242 wins, but reaching 200 puts Garcia in even more select company with Turner.

Jefferson Dragons feast on Lions 29-16

It was homecoming night at King High School this Friday...as the Lions were playing host to the defending state champion Jefferson Dragons.  And from the get go neither team could get anything going offensively.

But by the second quarter the Dragon finally awoke from their slumber to rattle off three touchdowns.  The first was an 8 yard run by Deiondre Porter, then Charles Booth had a pick 6 that he returned 45-yards for the score, and in the final minutes before half Deiondre Porter threw 53-yards to Adrian Jenkins for the score.

Plant blitzes Wharton in district opener

Tampa, Fla. -- Plant had questions entering this season about who would take the snaps at quarterback. James Few has left little doubt.

Few threw four touchdowns against Wharton at Plant cruised to a 37-19 win in their district opener.

Few connected with tight end Austin Roberts for 27 yards to put Plant ahead 7-0.  Later in the first quarter, Few lofted a pass that Austin Aikens hauled in as Plant blitzed Wharton to a 21-0 lead after just 12 minutes.

Wharton made a quick rally behind a 60-yard touchdown run from Darius Page on the ensuing drive.

Pasco stays unbeaten in 57-12 win over Wesley chapel

Not even a mid-game delugue could stop the momentum at Pasco High School.  The Pirates remain undefeated in the race to the 5A, District 6 playoffs.  Pasco is a perfect 6-0 on the season and 3-0 in district play.

Pasco quarterback Jacob Guy led the attack with 190 yards passing for 3 touchdowns.  Janarion Grant scored on a spectacular 78-yard kickoff return and caught a pass for a touchdown.

Plant City's Coney is High School Player of the week!

Senior Plant City quarterback Bennie Coney has been the WTSP TV 10 High School player of the week!

Bennie is already committed to play college ball in Cincinnati but last Friday night, he lit up the home town scoreboard with 5 touchdown passes to help humble crosstown rival Durant 43-12.

The win in class 7A-8 gives the undefeated Plant City Raiders the undisputed lead in the race for the district title.  The victory also won Plant City the coveted Jim Redman Memorial Cup.

Bennie Coney Player of the Week

Plant City HS quarterback, Bennie Coney, is the Highschoolsports.net Player of the Week.

The Raiders' senior quarterback passed for 382 yards, and set a Plant City record with 5 touchdown passes, in a 43-12 victory over district rival Durant.


Plant City rolls over Durant 43-12

For the first time since 1998, the Plant City Raiders are an undefeated 5-0 and totally in charge of the 7A-8 district playoff race.  Thursday night in home field orange, the Raiders humbled crosstown rival Durant 43-12.

Plant City Senior Antwon Amstrong played one his best games ever, pulling down a career best 3 interceptions while quarterback Bennie Coney threw for 377 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Joe Davis hauled in a 64-yard touchdown pass while Lamarlin Wiggins pulled down a 9-yard score to put the game out of reach.  The win keeps Plant city undefeated at 5-0 and in the drivers seat for the district playoffs. Durang is 3-2, 1-1 in district play.

A rock 'n roll kind of night in Plant city as the Pirates beat Durant 43-12.
