Deiondre Porter named Player of the Week

Tampa, FL - Jefferson quarterback Deiondre Porter is the 10 News Sports Player of the Week.

Last Friday night in a 53-13 win over Lennard, Porter accounted for six touchdowns, three rushing and three passing.

Porter threw for 234 yards completing 7 of 17 passes, while rushing for 131 yards on only nine carries.

Plant scores late TD, beat Sickles 24-20

Tampa, FL - It was a battle of Plant's established winning program, against Sickles up-and-coming program.

The Gryphons, who came into the game unbeaten, got on the scoreboard first on Ray Ray McClound's 1st quarter 15-yard run.

On the preceeding kickoff, Plant's Bernard Rogers returned it 85 yards and the score was tied 7-7.

McCloud, who came into the game scoring an average of two touchdowns a game, got his second score when he ran 11 yards around the left end, and Sickles lead 14-7.

Plant Panthers Pounce on Riverview 47-7

In Riverview tonight the Sharks were taking on the number six ranked Plant Panthers. Plant wasted little time as QB Colby Brown connected with Cameron Winter on a 9-yard touchdown.

Then after recovering a fumble, Plant struck again as Brown found Luke McFadden on a 27-yard touchdown to make it 12-0.

And before the quarter was out Plant struck again with 6-yard pass to Jordan Reid. 

Talvin Bailey named Player of the Week

Seffner, FL - Armwood wide receiver Talvin Bailey is the 10 News Sports Player of the Week.

Last Friday night at Jefferson, Bailey caught a 45-yard touchdown pass to put the Hawks on the scoreboard.  He then returned the second half kickoff 95-yards, giving Armwood the lead and the momentum.  

The Hawks (5-0, 4-0) went on to defeat the Dragons 28-9, putting themselves in the driver's seat for the Class 6A-8 District title.

Bailey said returning the kickoff for a touchdown was extra special.

Colby Brown named Player of the Week

Tampa, FL - Plant Panther's quarterback Colby Brown is the 10 News Sports Player of the Week.

Last Friday night, Brown had a record setting performance in leading the Panthers past the Bloomingdale Bulls 50-40.

The senior quarterback completed 33 of 43 passes for 519 yards and four touchdowns.

The 33 completions broke Robert Marve's best, set in the 2006 state championship game, and Brown's 519 passing yards easily broke Aaron Murrays record of 409 yards against Jefferson in 2007.

Armwood holds down Robinson 27-0

Seffner, Florida -- If the Armwood Hawks came into Friday nights game looking a little tired, who could blame them. After all, they played their rain delayed game at Hillsborough on Monday night.

Now with just three days rest, Armwood 4-0, (2-0) was at home taking on the Robinson Knights 0-4, (0-2) in a Class 6A District 8 matchup.

In the first quarter, the Hawks took advantage of good field position when Robinson's punter tried to run for a first down but came up short.

Pasco blanks Wesley Chapel 35-0

Dade City, Fl - A few hours before the start of the Wesley Chapel at Pasco high school football game, heavy rain and lightning put on an amazing show.

Once the game began, Malik Johns stole the show, scoring four touchdowns to lead the Pasco Pirates (2-1) to a 35-0 victory over Wesley Chapel Wildcats (0-3).
