Armwood rolls over Springstead, 41-0

Seffner, FL-- Junior quarterback Noah Johnson passed for 3 touchdowns, and ran for another, to lead Armwood to a 41-0 shutout of Springstead, in a 6A Region Final.

Johnson connected with Hunter Zilbar, Austin Gallon, and Trevor Laurent for touchdowns.  The Hawks led 31-0 at the half.  Johnson finished 11 of 20 passing, for 251 yards.

Armwood will play host to Bartram Trail of Jacksonville, next Friday night, in a 6A state semifinal.

Byron Cowart named Player of the Week

Seffner, FL - Armwood High School defensive end Byron Cowart is the 10 News Sports Player of the Week.

Last Friday night in Armwood's 52-48 win over Jefferson, Cowart returned two fumbles for touchdowns, had two sacks and chased Jefferson quarterback Deiondre Porter throughout the entire game.

Cowart's second touchdown came early in the second half, proved to be big, giving the Hawks a 10-point lead they never relinghished.

The Armwood junior says scoring is something he expects from the defense.

Noah Johnson named Player of the Week

Seffner, FL - Armwood High School quarterback Noah Johnson is the 10 News Sports Player of the Week.

Last Friday night, Johnson helped Armwood come from behind to claim a 31-19 first round playoff victory over Venice.  The junior quarterback rushed for two touchdowns and 115 yards, while passing for 119 yards, and no interceptions.

In his first year as a starting quarterback, Johnson is a perfect  11-0.  He says getting his first playoff win is pretty exciting.

Tampa Catholic rolls past Melbourne Central Catholic 45-10

On Friday Tampa Catholic  traveled to Melbourne Central Catholic for the second round of the state playoffs. 

The Crusaders were no match for MCC as they just kept piling on the points including a few defensive scores.

When the dust finally settled, the Crusaders won 45-10.

Armwood prevails 52-48 over Jefferson in the 2nd round of the playoffs

Seffner, FL - Jefferson at Armwood, it's a district rematch everyone has been looking forward to ever since Armwood beat Jeffferson back in September.

And this sequel didn't disappoint.  A total of 100 points were scored by both teams with the Hawks hanging on to the 52-48 victory.

Jefferson quarterback Deiondre Porter threw five touchdowns but it wouldn't be enough.

Armwood defensive end Byron Cowart had two fumble recovery touchdowns and put pressure on Porter thoughout the game.
