TAMPA, Florida -- When it comes to high school basketball this season, there are few teams better than Tampa Prep right now. They're currently undefeated with a 19-0 record and ranked 17th in the state.

"I have a lot of selfless kids, yes they love to score 20 points a game, but they also know that at the end we win as a team and we lose as a team and each one of them has a vital role in that," said Tampa Prep head coach Joe Fenlon.

This season Fenlon claimed his 600th career win, the most of any Hillsborough County high school boys basketball coach, and it's a milestone that his players are proud to have shared with him.

"It's unbelievable, because he's coached so many players, just to be a part of a game that means so much to him is really special," said Josh Heath, Tampa Prep Junior.

In addition to 600 career wins, Fenlon has claimed 18 district crowns and been to the state championship game three times, but he's never taken home a state title, a fact he tries not to focus on too much.

"I think good things happen to good people and I have a really nice team this year that's made up of really good kids, that doesn't mean that the ultimate goal is going to be achieved, but often we lose sight of the journey, you can't lose sight of all the bits and pieces that get you to that destination you hope to get to," said Fenlon.
