The Tampa Breeze, currently ranked No. 2 in the Lingerie Football League, is going up against No. 4 ranked Philadelphia Passion tonight at 9 p.m.

Ybor City, FL -- All the candidates running for Tampa Mayor are expected to attend a meet and greet hosted by the GaYBOR District Coalition on Friday, Jan 14.


It's believed this will be the first forum where all the candidates will be in attendance.


Confirmed for the event are Bob Buckhorn, Rose Ferlita, Dick Greco, Arthur Richardson, Thomas Scott and Ed Turanchik.

Tampa, FL -- A Hillsborough County Animal Advisory Subcommittee will meet to discuss proposed changes to the Ordinance pertaining to cat issues and spay/neuter vouchers on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 3 p.m. at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, located at 3607 N. Armenia Ave., Tampa.

The public is invited to attend. There will be a time scheduled for public comments.

USF Health celebrates groundbreaking tomorrow

USF Health celebrates groundbreaking tomorrow

Tampa, FL -- This Tuesday, Jan. 11, local leaders will break ground on the USF Health Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation (CAMLS), a new $30-million, 90,000-square-foot facility in downtown Tampa.

According to USF, CAMLS will transform the training these healthcare professionals with creative learning models and simulators designed to help participants learn, practice and perfect complex medical techniques.

CAMLS will also focus on designing and testing new surgical and medical devices and technologies in its Research and Innovation Lab.

USF President Judy Genshaft, Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio and Dr. Stephen Klasko, CEO of USF Health and dean of the College of Medicine, will speak at Tuesday’s ground breaking.

The project, designed by The Beck Group, is scheduled to open in December 2011.

Plant City, FL -- It was another successful year with a great turnout for the 2011 Junior Royalty Pageant.

Approximately 120 young girls competed for the titles of Baroness, Duchess, Princess and Queen in the pageant on Saturday.

Hillsborough County, FL -- Two public hearings are scheduled to discuss and receive public comment on two proposed revisions to the Hillsborough County Home Rule Charter.

The two public hearings are scheduled for Monday, Jan. 10 at 6 p.m. and Monday, Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. Both public hearings will be held in the 2nd Floor Board Room of County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd. in downtown Tampa.

Code Enforcement Special Magistrate Hearing – Burglar False Alarms and Natural Resources

The Hillsborough County Code Enforcement Special Magistrate for the Enforcement of Burglar False Alarms and Natural Resources is scheduled to meet Monday, Jan. 10 at 9 a.m. in the 2nd Floor Boardroom of County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd. in downtown Tampa.

The Special Magistrate is authorized to hear violations concerning all codes and ordinances of Hillsborough County in order to maintain health and safety standards.
