Parking Guidlines for Gasparilla and Pirate Fest in Downtown

Tampa, FL --If you're planning on parking in downtown Tampa for the Gasparilla parade and Pirate Fest on Saturday, Jan. 29, the city has guidelines for parking downtown.


Tampa Convention Center Garage located at Tampa Street & Brorein Street, will open at 5:00 a.m. with a charge of $10 that must be paid as the vehicle enters.


There are several Crosstown Parking Lots located beneath the elevated Crosstown Expressway.

Lowry Park Zoo gets prehistoric visitors today

Tampa, FL -- A cast of ancient creatures starring in a traveling exhibit of prehistoric proportions arrived at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo this morning.

Nearly 20 lifelike and life-size dinosaurs arrived in shipping trailers (mostly fully assembled) and were taken to their new temporary home in the Zoo's Love Garden for DinoQuest: Jurassic Journey.

Tampa, Florida - Several krewes brought Gasparilla to children who we're unable to go to the Gasparilla Children's Parade.


Pirates invaded St. Joseph's Children's Hospital to pass out beads and good cheer.


Stretchers were decorated as floats as the children went up and down the hospital's hallways with the pirates.

Valrico, FL -- When the drums beat and the dancing starts, you will be transported to a magical time in the jungles of Africa.

The Bloomingdale Regional Public Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave. in Valrico, hosts the puppet show, "Leopard's Drum", tomorrow at 11 a.m. for ages 4 & up.

All of the animals wish Leopard’s wonderful drum belonged to them.

Most important of all, Nyame, the sky god wants it! Osebo, the leopard isn’t sharing his drum. Will the resourceful tortoise succeed when all others fail?

Tampa, FL -- Gasparilla season is upon us once again, and while the adults wait it out for next week's invasion, children had all the fun today.


About a thousand kids and their parents got all dressed up for the Gasparilla Pre-schoolers Stroll. These pint-sized pirates traveled from Bay-to-Bay Boulevard all the way to Howard Ave. in some pretty creative strollers.

Tampa, Florida -- The bleachers have gone up along Bayshore Boulevard in South Tampa. It's clear pirate time is upon us!


Altogether, Tampa's Gasparilla pirate festival spans almost six weeks. It ends with the Knight Parade and Gasparilla Distance Classic run next month.


But the fun for everyone began Saturday with the Gasparilla Children's Parade, which stretched along Bayshore Blvd. The route started at Bay to Bay Blvd. and ran north to Morrison Ave. in Hyde Park.

'Ace of Cakes' star comes to USF

Tampa, Fla--Celebrity baker Duff Goldman is coming to Tampa to talk about his experiences as a chef and more recently, his starring roles in TV and Film.

Goldman is most known for his Food Network shows 'Ace of Cakes' and 'The Best Thing I Ever Ate.'

You can see Duff Goldman at the USF Marshall Center Ballroom on January 26th at 8:30 p.m. as part of the University Lecture Series.

The event is free and open to the public.
