Hurricane Expo at MOSI

Tampa, Fla -- Forecasters are urging you to get ready for hurricane season, which begins June 1.

Meteorologists like 10 News' own Bobby Deskins took part in a panel discussion today at MOSI as part of the 4th Annual Hurricane Expo.

NOAA predicts 12 to 18 named storms with six to 10 becoming hurricanes.

The City of Tampa and Hillsborough fire helped set up today's expo.

Tampa Fire Captain, Bill Wade says don't let a lack of active seasons in recent years stop you from being prepared.

"In 2004 & 2005 the Bay Area had quite a few storms. In 2006, we were all kinds of ready... sort of apathy," said Captain Wade.

A weather radio is one of the most important tools for a hurricane preparedness kit.
