Moffitt teams up with downtown library for cancer prevention

Tampa, FL -- The Moffitt Cancer Center and The John Germany Library in downtown Tampa are teaming up to educate people about cancer prevention.

There will be a ribbon cutting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the library's Moffitt Resource Corner across from the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center to kick off the program.

B. Lee Green Ph.D., vice president of Moffitt Diversity and senior member of Health Outcomes and Behavior, will make the opening remarks.

Hillsborough County Commissioner Mark Sharpe is scheduled to speak at the event.

As part of the outreach by Moffitt, there will be lectures at the library four times a year on how to prevent cancer and live a healthier lifestyle.

Kathy Allen, Moffitt's director of nutrition, will kick off the lectures series following the ribbon cutting and ceremonies.

Allen will speak on a path to better health with nutrient-rich foods that won't break the budget.
