Parent University coming to Hillsborough Schools

Hillsborough County, Florida-- Parents with kids enrolled in Hillsborough County public schools have a chance to attend a course of their own this weekend.

According to the public schools superintendent, parents are invited to attend a series of informational sessions designed to support the academic life of children, called Parent University.

It's scheduled for this Saturday, March 2, from 8 a.m. to noon at Chamberlain High School, 9401 N. Boulevard, Tampa.

Here is more information from the superintendent:

This inaugural event will offer sessions focused on academic and support programs in Hillsborough County Public Schools, effective strategies families can use to help every child succeed, and ways to advocate for the resources necessary for our public schools.

School district representatives, along with district community-based partners, will conduct sessions on navigating the education system, student learning, leadership/advocacy, and family health/wellness.

Lunch will be available for all attendees and childcare will be provided by HOST (the Hillsborough Out of School Time program) for those families with children in kindergarten through grade 5.

Parent University is a collaboration of the United Way Suncoast, Hillsborough County Council PTA/PTSA, Alliance for Public Schools, and Hillsborough County Public Schools.

You can register either online at HillsboroughParentU.org or by calling 813-272-4499.
