Festival of Chocolate attempts two Guiness World Records

Tampa, FL-- In its third year at MOSI, The Festival of Chocolate is going to make chocolate and science history. With approval from Guinness World Records, The Festival of Chocolate will make a dual World Record attempt for The World’s Largest Practical Science Lesson and The World’s Largest Cup of Hot Cocoa on Monday, Jan. 21, beginning at 2 p.m.

Festival guests can sign up to participate in an interactive science lesson, which will culminate into two hands-on experiments. Guests as young as seven-years-old can sign up with their parent’s permission, and the experience is recommended for adults too!

After the lesson, the final drops of water, milk and cocoa powder will be poured into the World’s Largest Cup of Hot Chocolate to exceed the current record of 634.01 US Gallons achieved by NestlĂ© in Mexico.

“Our partners at San Juan Pools and Seemco of Tampa Bay have created the ultimate record breaking cup,” said Aileen Mand, producer of The Festival of Chocolate. “We have our sights set on mixing up an impressive amount of hot chocolate.”

With that large of a cup of hot chocolate, there must be marshmallows. Once the record is achieved, the MOSI Science Team will man catapults, and upon a mass countdown, a fury of marshmallows will launch into the World’s Largest Cup of Hot Chocolate. “Willie Wonka” on MOSI’s Sky Trail® Zip Line will drop marshmallows from above, ensuring that marshmallows fall from all directions.

Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory is donating more than 50 cases of Hot Chocolate, and US Foods is providing the milk product.

Guests can sign up to participate for $10 at tampa.festivalofchocolate.com. Space is limited, adnd entry into MOSI for The Festival of Chocolate is required.
