Building evacuated for small gas leak on Bruce B. Downs

Wesley Chapel, Florida -- If you're wondering what all the commotion was about this morning in the area of Bruce B. Downs and Mystic Oak Boulevard, authorities say a lawn maintanence worker ran over a gas value causing a small leak.

The sheriff's office assisted Pasco Fire Rescue crews with evacuating a building nearby and shutting down the Mystic Oak/Bruce B. Downs and Wrencrest/Bruce B. Downs intersections around 9:20 a.m.

Authorities have since cleared the scene and all intersections are now back open. TECO is currently on scene doing some minor repair work.

Over 25 miles of trails wind throughout the FishHawk Ranch community, each carefully planned to minimize the impact to existing plants and wildlife, and there is a park or open space within one-quarter mile of each home.

Lithia, Florida -- The FishHawk Community Garden Club meets monthly as a group where residents come together to work on having a community garden in the area. 

The club is currently in the planning stage and encourage all who are interested to join. The club meets in the theatre at the Osprey Club the first Tuesday of each month.

NOTE: The January meeting only will be held on the second Tuesday of the month.

Health advisory lifted for Bahia Beach

Tampa, FL-- The Hillsborough County Health Department has lifted a recently issued advisory for Bahia Beach. 

According to reports, the advisory was issued on December 28, but follow up testing was satisfactory based on the marine water bacterial indicator results as recommended by the EPA.

Portions of Alderman's Ford Park Trail temporarily closed starting Jan. 2

Lithia, Florida -- Hillsborough County has announced that portions of the trail at Alderman's Ford Regional Park in Lithia will be closed beginning Wednesday, Jan. 2, due to a renovation project.

This project is scheduled to last 90 days.

During this renovation project, the County says three bridges located on the trail spanning the Alafia River will undergo renovation. Each individual bridge will be closed temporarily during this time. The trail will remain open. However, portions of it will be shortened.

Health advisories issued for 2 Tampa beaches

Tampa, FL-- The Hillsborough County Health Department issued a health advisory for two Tampa beaches today. 

Ben T. Davis Beach and Picnic Island Beach reportedly failed to meet the criteria for enterococci bacteria recommended by the EPA. 

People are advised against swimming and bathing at these beaches until further notice. 

The beaches should be resampled on Monday, December 17, 2012.
