Precautionary boil water notice lifted

Tampa, FL -- The City of Tampa has announced that following water quality testing by the Tampa Water Department, areas of New Tampa are no longer under a precautionary boil water recommendation.

City of Tampa Water Department customers east of I-275, west of Morris Bridge Road, north of Dona Michelle Drive and south of County Line Road were placed under the boil water recommendation yesterday after a temporary decrease in water pressure to the area.

The City of Tampa appreciates everyone's patience during this period.

Precautionary boil water notice for New Tampa

Tampa, FL -- City of Tampa Water Department customers in the New Tampa area may have experienced a temporary decrease in water pressure this afternoon as a result of construction activity in the area.  Full water pressure was restored to the area shortly afterwards.

The potentially affected area was east of I-275, west of Morris Bridge Road, north of Dona Michelle Drive and south of County Line Road.

As a precaution and in conjunction with Health Department guidance, the City of Tampa recommends customers in the area:

Tampa, FL -- Join USF Botanical Gardens for their 2nd Annual Honey Tasting Fundraiser and taste this year's garden honey.

There will be many unusual and delicious honeys from all over the world to sample with demonstrations by the Garden Beekeeper, Gary Van Cleef.

There will also be talks on colony collapse and basic bee keeping instruction. Demonstrations of beekeeping outfits, hive assemblage and bee smokers. There will be fun food with honey and live music to allow a relaxing and fun afternoon at the Botanical Gardens.

Meeting for fish management at park

Plant City -- Hillsborough County and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are holding a public hearing to get input about a proposed Fish Management Area for Edward Medard Reservoir.

The public meeting will be held Thursday, Sept. 22 at the Turkey Creek Recreation Center.

The center is located at 5936 Connell Road and will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Advisory for 3 Tampa area beaches lifted

Advisory for 3 Tampa area beaches lifted

Tampa, FL -- The health advisory that was issued on Sept. 9 for Picnic Island Beach, Bahia Beach and Davis Island Beach was lifted on Wednesday, Sept. 14.

According to the Hillsborough County Health Department, follow-up testing came back with satisfactory levels based on marine water bacterial indicator results as recommended by the EPA.

Initial sampling performed on Sept. 6 showed high levels of enterococci bacteria which caused a potential health risk to the public.

See smoke at Balm Road Scrub Nature Preserve?

Wimauma, FL -- If you've seen smoke in the area today it's because the Florida Forest Service--formerly known as the Florida Division of Forestry--conducted a prescribed burn at Balm Road Scrub Nature Preserve.

The burn will last just for today. The purpose of the burn is for ecological site management and public safety.

Prescribed burn at Flatwoods Park

Thonotosassa, FL -- The Southwest Florida Water Management District is conducting a prescribed burn on Aug. 23 - 24 at Flatwoods Park, 14302 Morris Bridge Road in Thonotosassa.

The burn will last two days. The purpose of the burn is ecological site management.
