3 prescribed burns Tuesday in Hillsborough

If you are seeing smoke in your area today, not to worry, the Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department and the Florida Forest Service are conducting three prescribed burns throughout the county.

The three preserves listed below are included in the effort for the following reasons:

  • Balm-Boyette Scrub Preserve, 13998 Balm-Boyette Road in Lithia will be conducted by the Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department. The purpose is for ecological site management and wiregrass restoration.
  • Cockroach Bay Aquatic Preserve, 3709 Gulf City Road in Ruskin will be conducted by the Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department. The purpose is for preparation for contract spraying.
  • Cockroach Creek Greenway, 4110 Valroy Road, Ruskin will be conducted by the Florida Forest Service. The purpose is for ecological site management, wiregrass restoration, and hazardous fuels reduction.

All three burns will last one day.
