Tampa, Florida-  Sunscreen, swimsuit, the beach and...Halloween?

Summertime is not the typical time of year to start thinking of Halloween, but for the folks at Busch Gardens, it's the traditional time to plan for its annual Howl-O-Scream event.

The park's Entertainment Office will host open auditions for the Howl-O-Scream 2012 Scare Squad this Friday from 5 - 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Potential performers will be rated on their scare tactics as they try out drop doors, overhead startles and other gotcha gimmicks on the Scare Gauntlet. Then, a series of improvised group games will encourage those auditioning to transform their bodies, voices and movements from merely human into truly terrifying.

All Scare Squad positions are paid, and there is no experience necessary – just the right attitude.

During Howl-O-Scream, these devious creatures will infest haunted houses, scare zones and roaming hordes over 17 select nights in September and October.

Applicants must be 18-years-old or older for all performing roles, and a variety of behind-the-scenes positions are available as well.

Those interested should apply online at BuschGardensJobs.com, and then tryouts will be scheduled.

If needed, additional auditions will be held July 27-28 and Aug. 3-4.
