Driver sought in hit and run of two construction workers

Tampa, Florida -- Tampa Police officers are searching for the driver involved in the hit and run of two construction workers early Tuesday morning.

Police say the driver of a silver, 4-door Mitsubishi car with Florida tags was heading south on S. Dale Mabry Hwy, approaching W. San Carlos Street in the curb lane, when the car left the road, drove over the curb and hit two workers and a paint machine. The driver never stopped and continued driving south.

USF students confused over campus emergency texts

Tampa, Florida -- University of South Florida students and staff were on high alert Friday morning and, later, confused about their own safety.

"We were scared about walking to class so we took the bus this morning and walked with each other," said a junior at USF after reading campus alert texts.

"The texts were confusing though because the first said to be alert about a situation -- and then the second one, a few hours afterwards, said the event was over but they were clearly still searching for the bad guy," said another student.

Man suspected in to multiple ATM robberies arrested

Tampa, Florida -- A man wanted in a series of ATM robberies over Labor Day weekend has been caught, according to Hillsborough Sheriff's deputies.

Early this morning, deputies on routine patrol spotted a vehicle at a RaceTrac gas station on Bearss Avenue that matched the make and model of an SUV used in a Bank of America ATM robbery in the same area on Sept. 2. The driver of the SUV also matched the description of the man wanted in the robbery.

Bank of America ATM customer robbed at gunpoint in Tampa

Tampa, Florida -- Hillsborough Sheriff's deputies are searching for the man who robbed an ATM customer at a Bank of America branch in Tampa Monday afternoon.

Detectives say the man walked up behind the victim while he was at the ATM in the 200 block of Bearss Avenue and demanded money from him while armed with a silver or chrome handgun.

The robber then got into a grey, newer model, Dodge Journey SUV and drove away west on Bearss towards Florida Avenue.

Police seek Tampa Regions Bank robber

Tampa, Florida -- Tampa Police are asking for the public's help identifying the man who robbed a Regions Bank branch on the morning of Aug. 31.

Detectives say at 10:59 a.m., the man walked into the bank in the 5100 block of South Dale Mabry Highway and slid the teller a note demanding money. He then ran away northbound.

He is described as a black male in his 30's with a thin build, a large tattoo on his neck and one gold tooth. He was last seen wearing a dark cap, yellow reflective sunglasses, dark blue/yellow/white rugby-style long-sleeved shirt, long blue jeans.

Plant City, Florida -- A former teacher at King High School agreed to a plea deal Monday after his arrest back in July on charges of familiar sexual battery, traveling to meet a minor for sex and using a computer device to solicit sex.

Jeffrey Halle, Jr. was arrested back in July for allegedly having a sexual affair with an underage female student who was enrolled in an after school program he supervised.

Tampa, Florida -- A warning for all lawn care companies and people who own lawn equipment -- lock it up tight! 

A massive theft ring has been cracked in Hillsborough County where five career criminals, sheriff's detectives say, were preying on mom and pop lawn businesses, then turning around and selling the stuff for big bucks to the tune of a quarter million dollars.
