ICE operation in Florida nets 95 arrests, including 19 in Tampa
MIAMI (AP) -- U.S. immigration authorities have rounded up nearly 100 foreign nationals with convictions of violent crimes, sex offenses and drug trafficking charges. 19 of those arrested were made in Tampa.
Also arrested last week was a 44-year-old Mexican national who had a 2002 conviction in Collier County for child neglect. The immigrant had been living in Plant City. The charges of the other 92 foreign nationals include attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and burglary.
The five-day Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation ended Friday with 93 administrative arrests statewide for being in violation of immigration law. All were in ICE custody pending immigration removal proceedings or deportation from the United States.
The arrests include 84 men and nine women from 22 different countries. All have completed their criminal sentences.
