Former HSCO Detective & Rooms-To-Go security officer charged

Valrico, FL -- United States Attorney Robert E. O'Neill announced the filing of formal charges against Valrico resident Brian W. Ouellette.


The charges stem from a mail fraud scheme Ouellette allegedly conducted with James B. Loftus, Jr. of Georgia. Ouellette and Loftus both held high-level security positions at Rooms-To-Go Furniture (RTG). 


According to court documents, Ouellette and Loftus were employed as Directors of Security for Rooms-To-Go Furniture from the late 1990's through March 2007. This followed their retirement as detectives from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Plant City man faces charges in deadly hit and run crash

Tampa, FL -- A Plant City man involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash on Friday faced a judge today.


Troopers say Rodolfo Bautista-Perez pulled out of a parking lot and drove directly into the path of a biker. They say 24-year-old Jake Delvalle couldn't avoid slamming into the back of Perez' car. He was thrown from his bike and then run over by another vehicle.


That driver stopped but investigators say Perez kept going.

Woman accused of helping alleged cop killer arrested again

Seffner, FL -- Alaina Nichole Riggins, a 26-year-old Seffner woman suspected of helping murder suspect Dontae Morris hide from authorities, has been re-arrested.


Morris is accused of shooting and killing Tampa police officers, David Curtis and Jeffrey Kocab, during an early morning traffic stop on June 29, 2010.

Riggins was re-arrested Sunday during a traffic stop for allegedly not using her turn signal. The officer says she refused to get out of her vehicle and had to be removed from it. The officer says he saw a small .22 caliber semi-automatic firearm that was concealed under her right thigh on the driver's seat.

Seffner man indicted for mother's murder

Seffner, FL -- A Grand Jury indicted Kevin Lee Kyne for the Aug. 15 murder of his mother.


Kyne lives on West Wheeler Road in Seffner. At the time of his mother's death he lived in Seminole. 


The Pinellas County Sheriff's office is handling the murder case.


The Sheriff's office said late Thursday a Grand Jury indicted Kevin Kyne for first degree murder in the death of Diane Kyne.

USF student arrested after bringing a knife to school

Tampa, FL -- A USF student was arrested Tuesday after confronting students with a knife.

David Gerald Moseley, 19, was arrested on the charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon after fellow USF students reported to USF police that Moseley confronted them while displaying a knife in a menacing fashion.

According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 7:45 p.m. and appears to have stemmed from a minor disagreement that occurred in class a short time earlier.

Police: Fire breaks out at marijuana grow house

Tampa, Florida -- A building fire has now turned into a criminal investigation of a grow house.


Tampa Police say firefighters responded to a fire at a small vacant business on West Cass Street shortly after 10 a.m. Tuesday.  Smoke was visible as units arrived at the scene of the one-alarm fire.


Once inside, firefighters quickly extinguished a small blaze at the center of the building. They also discovered more than 100 marijuana plants used as part of a grow house operation.

3 arrested in police chase, may be Hard Rock robbers

TAMPA, Florida -- After a short chase and an extensive search, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office arrested three men who may be connected to the Seminole Hard Rock robbery from Jan. 2.

While on duty, a Pinellas County Sheriff's deputy noticed a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt traveling eastbound on Ulmerton Road at Tall Pines Drive that matched the description of a vehicle witnesses described during the armed robbery.

When the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle it took off resulting in a brief chase that ended at Tall Pines Drive and Whispering Drive in Largo. The three suspects abandoned the car and fled on foot.
